Awards and Grants
- Springer Thesis Award 2016 to Edoardo Vescovi (former PhD student in our group, supervised by V. Forini) for his PhD Thesis “Perturbative and non-perturbative approaches to string sigma-models in AdS/CFT”.
- PhD graduation with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude), awarded to Edoardo Vescovi on October 2016 for his work on “Perturbative and non-perturbative approaches to string sigma-models in AdS/CFT” (supervisor: Valentina Forini, external referee: Radu Roiban, internal referee: Jan Plefka).
- Carl Ramsauer Prize 2016 of the Berlin Physical Society to Lorenzo Bianchi (former PhD student in our group, supervised by V. Forini) for his PhD Thesis “Perturbation theory for string sigma models”.
- GATIS Award 2016 for the best talk at IGST 2016 to Valentina Forini.
- Prize “Lise-Meitner” 2016 of the Humboldt University Berlin – Institute for Physics for the Category “Oustanding Master Thesis” to Alexander Jahn. Alexander carried out his work on “Holographic Entanglement Entropy of Local Quenches in AdS4/CFT3” at the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics in Kyoto, under the external supervision of Prof. Tadashi Takayanagi (internal supervision: Valentina Forini).
- Journal of Physics A – Highlights of 2015 selected our One-loop spectroscopy of semi classically quantized strings: bosonic sector, by V. Forini, V. Giangreco Marotta Puletti, M. Pawellek and E. Vescovi.
- IRIS fellowship and GK 1504 fellowship for Edoardo Vescovi, to complete his PhD in our group.
- PhD graduation with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude), awarded to Lorenzo Bianchi on October 2015 for his work on “Perturbation theory for string sigma models” (supervisor: Valentina Forini, external referee: Arkady Tseytlin, internal referee: Jan Plefka).
- Prize ”Giuliano Preparata” 2015 of the Italian Physical Society for a young graduate student to Lorenzo Bianchi. The Prize has been awarded to Lorenzo “for his contribution to the perturbative analysis of string theory in AdS backgrounds” during the 101st National Congress, held in Rome in September 2015.
- Grant HU Berlin-Equal opportunity 2013 for a visiting female scientist (Dr. Susanne Reffert, CERN).
- Grant ”AdS/CFT Correspondence: Integrable Structures and New Observables” (Principal Investigators: Valentina Forini, Jan Plefka, Matthias Staudacher), C05 subproject of SFB 647: Space – Time – Matter: Analytic and Geometric Structures funded by DFG for 2013-2016.
- Journal of Physics A – Highlights of 2013 selected our Generalized cusp in AdS_4 x CP^3 and more one-loop results from semiclassical strings, by V. Forini, V. Giangreco Marotta Puletti and O. Ohlsson Sax.
- Alexander von Humboldt fellowship awarded to Linda Uruchurtu (Imperial C. London) to be spent in our group for 2012-2014.
- PhD fellowship at Brown University for Michael Zlotnikov, to be carried out under the supervision of Prof. Anastasia Volovich.
- Grant “Gauge Fields from Strings“ (Principal Investigator: Valentina Forini) funded by DFG for 2012-2017.
