Independent Emmy Noether Research Group
“Gauge Fields from Strings”
This independent junior research group is funded by the Emmy Noether Programme of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Our research addresses current issues in the framework of the string/gauge correspondence, emphasizing their relation and qualitative reference to quantum chromodynamics as well as the “cross-fertilization” of established gauge-theoretical tools to strings and vice versa.
We are happy to congratulate Lorenzo Bianchi on being the recipient of the Italian Physical Society 2015 Prize “Giuliano Preparata” for a young graduate student. The Prize has been awarded to Lorenzo “for his contribution to the perturbative analysis of string theory in AdS backgrounds” during the 101st National Congress, held in Rome in September 2015.
We are even happier to congratulate Lorenzo Bianchi on graduating with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude). He successfully defended his dissertation “Perturbation theory for string sigma models” (internal referee: Jan Plefka, external referee: Arkady Tseytlin) on October 1st 2015, and his Thesis will be soon published on our website.
