This is part of the QFT-Colloquia offered by our RTG 2575 “Rethinking Quantum Field Theory”
Notice the schedule: the Colloquium will be at 12, preceded by a meeting at 11:00 with the speaker (part of the “Multiplicity Seminars” of the RTG).
Speaker: Prof. Silvia Nagy, University of DurhamTitle: From Symmetries to Wavefunctions
Abstract:
I will first give a pedagogical overview of the self-dual sectors of Yang-Mills theory and gravity. These are not only excellent playgrounds for asking questions that are too difficult in the full theory, but also starting points for a perturbation theory towards the full theories. In this context, I will show how an appropriate treatment of the symmetries arising in these sectors can lead to extremely powerful Ward identities: the wavefunction is fully determined, at all orders, from the symmetry! I will comment on future directions in both flat and curved background spacetimes.
