Title: Defect CFT from strings and branes in AdS
Abstract:
Conformal defects in CFT can be often given a holographic description in terms of strings or branes in AdS. The correlation functions of the defect CFT can be then computed holographically by studying the fluctuations of the dual extended object in AdS. I will give an overview of this topic, focusing on the explicit example of the half-BPS Wilson loop in N=4 SYM and its string theory dual.
