Title: Supergravity @ 50: From gauging supergravity to Kaluza-Klein spectroscopy

Abstract: I review the structure of gauged supergravity: combining supergravity with non-abelian gauge symmetry. I then discuss how these structures, together with exceptional field theory, provide powerful tools for computing Kaluza-Klein mass spectra in string compactifications, illustrated through a variety of examples.
