  non-relativistic effective theory"\n\nIn the advent of gravitational wave
  astronomy\, precise and flexible theoretical descriptions will be instru
 mental to analyse the characteristics of compact binary systems. I review
  recent progress in the calculation of non-relativistic corrections in th
 e framework of an effective field theory\, based on techniques adopted fr
 om particle physics. In particular\, I present recently obtained results 
 for the genuine 5-loop corrections.
