Title: Non-perturbative geodesics – the traditional approach
Abstract: Exact, non-perturbative geodesics in General Relativity can take surprisingly simple forms, involving elliptic functions. Schwarzschild, Kerr and Kerr-Newman metrics all share this structure. In this talk, we review traditional methods for obtaining geodesics in General Relativity. After a general overview, Schwarzschild trajectories are derived by explicitly solving the equations of motion – generalisations to Kerr and Kerr-Newmann are briefly covered. We then turn to recently published work, before finally discussing how these results might be leveraged in the Post-Minkowskian setting.
