Title: Quantum geometry and gauged linear sigma models
Abstract:
In this talk I will discuss gauged linear sigma models (GLSMs) to toric Calabi-Yau threefolds with B-brane boundary conditions as a tool to compute exact quantities in type IIA string theory. I will introduce the GLSM partition function on the disc and explain its meaning as the equivariant quantum volume of the target. Upon introducing D0, D2 and D4 brane boundary conditions I will give a derivation of homological mirror symmetry, relating the type IIA setup to its mirror type IIB string theory. I will then define GLSM partition functions on arbitrary worldsheets as exponential periods of Chekhov-Eynard-Orantin topological recursion invariants. Finally, if time allows, I will mention some further applications of equivariant (quantum) geometry and GLSMs.
