Title: Analytical self-force and black hole scattering

Abstract: This talk will begin with a brief overview of the status and challenges associated with the self-force approach to modelling small mass-ratio black hole binaries for the LISA mission. I will motivate and discuss the self-force scattering problem, focusing on methods for computing weak-field post-Minkowski expansions. I will describe the ongoing discrepancies between these self-force calculations and the predictions from effective-field-theory approaches in the context of a scalar charge scattering off a black hole. Finally, I will present recent progress in gravitational scattering.
