DESCRIPTION:Recently\, holographic models of local quenches in (1+1)-dimens
 ional conformal field theory (CFT) have been studied in terms of their ent
 anglement entropy. While these have been exactly solved\, it has not been 
 clear how the results - particularly the logarithmic time dependence of th
 e entanglement entropy - generalize to higher dimensions. In this talk\, I
  will introduce holographic local quenches and present a new numerical app
 roach to calculating holographic entanglement entropy in (2+1)-dimensional
  CFTs.
