 inear and beyond bound\n\nAbstract: Gravitational self-force theory is the
  primary method of modeling asymmetric binaries\, in which one object is m
 uch larger than the other. In this talk I discuss the major recent advance
  in this method: waveform models at second ("post-adiabatic") order in the
  mass ratio. I highlight the challenges in extending these models to the f
 ull parameter space of physically realistic orbits. Motivated by novel pat
 hs that might circumvent these challenges\, I also describe some ongoing w
 ork on self-force methods for unbound orbits.
