Spectrum and Quantum Symmetries of the AdS_5 × S^5 Superstring Abstract: The AdS/CFT correspondence has dramatically changed our view on both gauge and string theories. In particular, for the initial duality pair, the duality between N=4 SYM and the AdS_5 × S^5 superstring, the underlying quantum integrability led to rich understanding, which allowed to devise powerful analytic methods. However, quantization of the AdS_5 × S^5 superstring from first principles proves extremely difficult and seems to be under control only for long semiclassical string states, such that the integrability based predictions for short strings lack any testability. In my thesis I investigated possible avenues to take perturbative quantization of the AdS_5 × S^5 superstring beyond the long string paradigm, with the goal to obtain a better understanding of the short string spectrum and the quantum symmetries at play.
